So, having heard many an excited tale about Zara opening Joburg and Durban, both in South Africa, I decided to have a look at their website in anticipation of the store opening here in Cape Town... Well. It's pretty damn impressive. I'm not going to ramble about the clothes, as great as they are. You can check them out on their site.
What really impressed me was the video that opened as I clicked on the "Woman" section. Artistic, subtle, black and white.. a pretty french girl (I'd like to add at this point that a kind reader pointed out that she is a model, Freja Beha) doing, well nothing really, apart from prancing around and looking in drawers etc, but the result is beautiful. Suggestive of a lifestyle. One can only assume that the clothing will hand us this lifestyle on a hanger, but as cynical as I sound.. I watched it twice. It really paints the brand as something cool, alternative and feminine. Lovely. I especially like the way it fills the screen. Web design has so much more impact and usability these days. Here are some screen shots to give you an idea..
So many great shots in such a short space of time! Fiiine.. here are some of their gorgeous clothes too..
